Animation direction
PS5 Animation
The sequence is built around layered blue forms, light specs, and a gradual shift from OLED black into a richer blue field. The motion should feel deliberately staged, with anticipation before the foreground text would appear.
Principles of animation
- Slow in and slow out for natural movement.
- Anticipation before the main foreground moment.
- Staging so the viewer understands where to look.
- Arcs instead of straight mechanical motion.
- Timing that makes the short intro feel intentionally designed.
Four dot types
- Two overlapping blue blurred dots.
- A blue dot that starts much larger and sharper, then gets smaller and becomes blurred as it fades.
- A closer light spec that appears larger and more blurred.
- A farther light spec with less blur, allowed to vary in size.
Sequence notes
- Dot types 1 and 2 fade away while light specs 3 and 4 remain visible. Dot 3 begins mostly on the right side, then spreads across the screen.
- A light ray begins forming from the top left.
- The light ray becomes more visible while the light dots continue moving.
- All dots start to blur, and the background shifts from OLED black toward blue to anticipate the incoming foreground text.
- The dots form a wave pattern moving from bottom left to top right, making it clear that this short intro was crafted specifically for the connect-controller and select-user screen.
